Grootbos Nature Reserve is an Eco-resort which is located in the heart of Cape Town’s abundant wildlife and landscapes. It is two hours drive from Cape Town. The literal meaning of Grootbos is “large forest”. It is named after white milk-woods which are widely found in this area and form an extensive part of the forest in this reserve. This forest houses some unusual flora and fauna and is the largest of its kind. It is a home to trees which are more than hundred years old. According to some of the reviews, Grootbos Nature Reserve is counted among world’s six “floral kingdoms”. This eco-resort has diverse varieties of fynbos vegetation, more than 715 species of plant which flower all around the year. If you are a serious bird-watcher, you are likely to spot more than 100 species of bird and many other animals as well.  There are in-house ornithologist, botanist, marine biologist and horticulturist who help tourists in enhancing knowledge about different features of this reserve.
